The Bushbaby Bowl

The Bushbaby Bowl is a unique tradition of the RRBC and says a lot about the character of the club. Racing is a real part of this club, but so is cruising and sharing your cruising knowledge with others.

The Bushbaby Bowl was given to the club by Derek and Carol Scorer and named after their boat. The Scorers greatly enjoyed cruising and keeping detailed  illustrated logs of their adventures. In order to encourage others to do the same, they established this prize for the best annual log by an RRBC member.

There are few formal requirements, but the cruise covered by the log must be at least 7 consecutive days and the log should include navigational information that would be useful to others as well as logistical information. In the past, only log “books” were acceptable as entries, but in keeping with the times, both books and web pages will now be considered.

The Bushbaby Bowl is awarded at the club dinner dance in January and entries are usually due in December.

The text of a previous winning log is available here:
